Ladies, its time to peel off that winter clothes! The bikini countdown is officially on. This year lets do it right, no matter what your goal is-tone up, loose weight, eat clean, stay confident or all of the above. Give yourself plenty of time so you can have fun with it and build healthy habits for life.
1. Get Your Sweat On
Yes, I know we talked about it a million times, but there is no other way around it. To get your body ready for the beach, strength training is a must. It burns tons of calories, tones your whole body, revs up your metabolism and makes you feel good. Some of the best and most effective strength training exercises are the ones that use several muscle groups at the same time.
2. Bottoms Up
In one of my recent posts, Benefits of Drinking Water: Everything You Should Know, I talked about numerous benefits of water, like glowing skin, increased energy level, improved mood, etc. When it comes to getting ready for that bikini, water has an indirect effect on loosing weight by raising your metabolism, increasing performance and fat-burning potential.
Solution: Have a glass of water with every snack and meal, eat more fruits and vegetables and always keep a bottle of water by your side.
3. Eat Clean
Ah, common! Can someone finally tell me what does that mean?! Yes, that means to be mindful of the food’s pathway between its origin and your plate. Its about eating real foods-those that are un-processed. I personally don’t believe in eating something that came out of a factory. Processed, starchy carbohydrates, like breads, pastas, cookies (yes, I am fully aware how good they taste) are loaded with sodium and preservatives that are not only damaging for your overall health and well-being, but also contribute to water retention and bloating (every female’s nightmare on the beach!)
Solution: Based on your goal, either its to Tone Up, Slim Down, Beauty, Wellness or you are just a Beginner and want to learn how to eat healthy, choose one of my customized Meal Plans thats right for you. They all contain tons of fresh fruit, veggies and lean protein that will keep you happy and satisfied for many hours after the meal.
4. Blame It On the Alcohol
Who doesn’t enjoy a nice glass of wine after a long day at work? Unfortunately, alcohol does undermine your preparation for a bikini-ready body by causing bloating, slowing ability to burn fat and adds unwanted calories. Plus we all know how irresistible those cookies look after a couple of beers.
5. Lights Out
“Beauty Sleep” is anything but myth. During sleep, your growth hormone stimulates tissue growth and muscle repair. Four hours or less is considered to be sleep deprived and as a result you end up with growth hormone deficiency which in turn is associated with loss of muscle mass, increased obesity and reduced exercise capacity.
Solution: Give your mind and body the sleep it needs to rest and repair by enjoying seven to nine hours of sleep for the average adult.
